Cano Negro Wildlife Refuge – A Photo Diary

After our stay in rainy, cloudy La Fortuna we decided to take a boat tour through the Cano Negro Wildlife Refuge.

This is a nice day tour, even when it rains. You can see a lot of animals lounging around the mangroves or in hanging out in the trees. We spotted a lot of different kinds of birds, sloths, iguanas, monkeys and even caimans! This was our last rainy location on the Middle America Trip in 2010. The next destination was Samara, one of my favorite beach side towns.

I will let the photos speak for itself.

When we reached the below lake we actually passed the border into Nicaragua.  Needless to say, I decided not to cross Nicaragua off my list of places to visit because this sight obviously does not suffice.
