Edinburgh in Winter – Castle and The Meadows

I have written a couple of blog posts about Edinburgh. In October 2010, I moved to Edinburgh and that winter it was one of the most white winters in the history of Edinburgh. So, this post will show you what the city looks like in winter.

At the time, it wasn’t fun, there was no public transportation, and the road salt ran out leaving everyone to slip. I was living in a hostel at the time, and a lot of my roommates couldn’t fly home for Christmas due to the weather.

All complaining aside, it did cover Edinburgh in the most magical white blanket.

I have taken some pictures of the Castle covered in snow.

Meadows

Of course, I can’t leave out the Meadows. The best place to go and play when it has either snowed or when the sun is out. You can sit on the grass with friends and have drinks and a little picknick. In winter, you can make snowmen and sled down the hills.

Conclusion

Edinburgh is great in any season. During Winter there is a German Christmas Market which is fantastic! Summer, Winter, Spring, Autumn, Edinburgh can and should be visited all year round.
